Call Of Duty World League (CWL) Championship enters Round 2 of the playoffs on Saturday morning featuring the best eight teams, who hold onto their upper bracket placement, meanwhile, four teams wait in the loser’s bracket, hoping to get another shot at glory. www.academybahamas.com preview the betting odds, predictions and likely winners of all the upper bracket matches looking at the teams and their chances to get one step closer to the CWL Grand Final and $800,000 in prizemoney.

Call Of Duty World League (CWL) Championship Round 2 Saturday, August 17; 10:00 AM PDT

eUnited v Evil Geniuses

eUnited enters round two following a dominant show against Team WaR (3:1), which should not come off as a surprise to anyone. Evil Geniuses on the other side, impressed with 3:1 win over Splyce, however, the question remains: have they got what it takes to derail eUnited this weekend? eUnited (1.25) enter the match against Evil geniuses (3.75) as heavy favourites, and considering the quality of the two sides we can’t argue with that. Evil Geniuses performed much better compared to what was expected of them this tournament, nonetheless, we don’t feel comfortable betting against eUnited here.

  • Prediction: eUnited to win Odds: 1.28

Bet on eUnited at one of the top esports betting sites online.

UNITS v Sicario Gaming

UNITS (1.50) managed to derail Envy in round one with incredible performance.
They entered the match as underdogs but did not need long to prove their worth as they managed to take the experienced Envy to five games. Sicario Gaming (2.50) on the other side did not fail to impress either. With a dominant 3:1 win over Singularity, they earned a spot in the final eight as well as respect from other competitors. All in all, this match can prove to be a close one. Both teams are incredibly strong and from the first glance, there is not a lot to separate them. While it’s UNITS (1.50) who are the favourites to win against Sicario (2.50), we would not underestimate Sicario and their ability to take UNITS to five games.

  • Prediction: Sicario Gaming +1.50 Odds: 1.61

Call Of Duty World League (CWL) Championship Round 2 Saturday, August 17; 11:30 AM PDT

OpTic Gaming v Enigma6

Out of all teams that were considered underdogs ahead of the tournament, it’s Enigma6 who impressed the most. They are cruising through their opponents with dominant performances left and right. A 3:0 record in the group stage followed by 3:0 win over Elevate in round one of playoffs earned them a spot in the final eight. However, their real test will come this weekend when Enigma6 (2.37) faces off against OpTic (1.53). Despite the fact OpTic are heavy favourites here, Enigma6 are not to be underestimated. Not only do they have a solid team, E6 are on a roll, which we believe is enough to stay competitive even with OpTic.

  • Prediction: Enigma6 +1.5 Odds: 1.66

Reciprocity v Luminosity

Last but not least, we have got a match between Reciprocity (1.80) and Luminosity (1.90), which as the odds suggest can go either way. Both teams shook the world with their performances in round one, when they humiliated the two of the best teams in CoD competitive scene. Reciprocity demolished FaZe (3:1), whereas Luminosity dismantled 100 T (3:1), how it’s time for them to prove their worth against each other. All in all this one is too close to call, nonetheless, it’s Reciprocity who usually come out ahead in the head to head fixture against Luminosity. We will trust them to deliver once more here.

  • Prediction: Reciprocity to win Odds: 1.80

Call Of Duty World League (CWL) Championship group stage came to a close on Thursday, August 15 leaving us with the final 16 teams who earnt their spot in the playoffs. www.academybahamas.com takes a look at the betting opportunities and predicted winners for the Friday final 16 matches.

Featuring only the best of the best Call Of Duty (CoD) scene has to offer, the Call Of Duty World League Championships playoffs will by no means be a walk in the park for any of the 16 teams, as they will all have to be on top of their game to earn their spot in round two and hopefully a spot in the finals. Now let’s check which teams advanced into playoffs, who they got paired with and our predictions for who will win their way through to the next round.

Call Of Duty World League (CWL) Championship Games Friday, August 16; 10:00 AM PDT

Team Envy v UNITS

Team Envy deserves all the praise for their incredible performance during the group stage. While seeing them advance is no shock, they impressed with a 3:2 win over Reciprocity, clearly showing they mean business. Priced at 1.61 to defeat UNITS (2.20), Envy are the favourites which is more than fair. While UNITS are by no means a team to be underestimated, they are expected to struggle against the incredibly experienced and hot Envy.
Expect Envy to continue with their winning streak and advance into round two
Prediction: Team Envy to win Odds: 1.61

Singularity v Sicario Gaming

This one promises to be an exciting match featuring Singularity (1.53) and Sicario (2.37), who both performed admirably well throughout the group stage. Out of the two, however, it’s Singularity who impressed the most. Not only did they finish the group stage 3-0, they crushed Luminosity by showcasing the incredible skill and team play. Sicario on the other side finished second in pool F, which is by no means a bad result, considering they had to battle 100 Thieves for number one spot. All in all, this one could be a close one. Singularity are in an excellent form, whereas Sicario seems to be slightly underrated, however, when push comes to shove, we will trust Singularity to continue their run and defeat Sicario.
Prediction: Singularity to win Odd: 1.53

Call Of Duty World League (CWL) Championship Games Friday, August 16; 11:30 AM PDT

Splyce v Evil Geniuses

Considering how these two teams performed in the group stage, it’s only normal to see Splyce (1.61) as the favourites to defeat EG (2.20) in the first round of playoffs. Splyce finished their group stage with a perfect 3:0 score and even more impressive 9:1 in maps. EG on the other side finished their group G 2:1 and 7:4 in maps. However, we need to consider EG had arguably harder group compared to Splyce. We believe this fixture can go either way. We believe EG can pull off an upset here and at 2.20 offered on them, we will take our chances and back Evil Geniuses to deliver.
Prediction: Evil Geniuses to win Odds: 2.20

eUnited v Team WaR

Team WaR (7.00) already packed their bags, as they need to defeat eUnited (1.083) in what seems like an impossible match to win.
While CWL Champs had its fair share of upset wins and shocking results, Team WaR chances to defeat eUnited in playoffs are slim, to say the least. No point in betting against eUnited here.
Prediction: eUnited to win Odds: 1.083

Call Of Duty World League (CWL) Championship Games Friday, August 16; 1:00 PM PDT

Luminosity v 100 Thieves

A lot of hopes have been put in Luminosity (3.50) to deliver in the group stage, but unfortunately, they failed to deliver. By finishing second, they now found themselves facing off 100 Thieves (1.28), meaning they are in for an extremely tough match. Before the tournament began, we would trust Luminosity to have a solid chance to defeat 100 Thieves, but from what they have shown in the group stage, we don’t think they have what it takes to derail the home team. They struggled against amateur teams and if that is anything to go by, 100 Thieves should have an easy time defeating them.
Prediction: 100 Thieves to win Odds: 1.28

FaZe v Reciprocity

The round one fixture between FaZe (1.53) and Reciprocity (2.37) will give Reciprocity a chance to redeem themselves following a questionable performance in the group stage. While we believe FaZe are rightfully the favourites here, they are severely overrated. Looking back at group stage, Reciprocity disappointed with a defeat against Envy, but considering how solid Envy looked, we cannot put too much weight on that defeat. Reciprocity have a solid chance to derail FaZe and while it will by no means be an easy task, we will trust the underdogs to upset FaZe here.
Prediction: Reciprocity to win Odds: 2.37

Call Of Duty World League (CWL) Championship Games Friday, August 16; 2:30 PM PDT

OpTic Gaming v Heretics

OpTic Gaming enter their round one of playoffs as heavy favourites (1.16) to defeat Team Heretics (4.50), which is more than fair.
The Green Wall did not disappoint their fans in the group stage, where they managed to finish first, ahead of Evil geniuses, TrainHard and Carnage Gaming. Heretics on the other side finished their group stage 2:1. The only team that defeated were Splyce, who dominated pool H. Seeing how Heretics crushed all but Splyce makes us believe they are a solid team, but when faced against pro teams, Heretics seemingly struggle. We believe Heretics have what it takes to push OpTic to five games, however, they lack the experience and quality to derail one of the most iconic CoD teams.
Prediction: OpTic to win Odds: 1.16

Elevate v Enigma6

Last but not least, we have got Elevate (2.37) versus Enigma6 (1.53). Enigma6 are a team that impressed us in the group stage, where they looked incredibly strong. They finished their group stage with a 3:0 record and a breath taking 9:1 in maps, which is nothing to joke about, especially considering they demolished Gen.G. Elevate on the other side finished pool A tied with Celtic FC and RBL at 1:2. They did end up earning a spot in the final 16, despite some questionable performances, which failed to impress us. At the end of the day, Elevate only managed to defeat RBL eSports and even then they dropped one map. All in all, we do not trust Elevate to stand a chance against the dangerous Enigma6.
Prediction: Enigma6 to win Odds: 1.53

August 16-18, 2019 – Edwin W. Pauley Pavilion, Los Angeles

The Call of Duty World League Championship is back, once again putting 32 of the best CoD teams head-to-head in what promises to be a spectacle no esports fan should miss.

Providing us with three days of non-stop action and countless betting opportunities, the CWL Championship gathers Call of Duty esports enthusiasts and avid gamblers alike as the best in the world battle over US $800,000 prize money.

The tournament returns to Los Angeles this year for the sixth edition and will kick off on August 16 with group stage matches, where the 32 teams are divided into eight sections of four. Each group will consist of two pro teams and two amateur teams, giving the latter a chance to prove their worth to the world.

A round-robin format with best-of-five series will be used to determine which two teams emerge victorious in their group and advance into the knockout stage. The bottom two teams in each section will be eliminated.

The knockout stage is set to begin on August 17, a day after the group stage concludes. The second phase will also use Bo5 series, while a double-elimination bracket means each team will have two chances to reach the finals, via the upper bracket or via the lower bracket.

After five rounds of playoffs conclude, the grand finals will take centre stage on August 18 and mark the end of the Call of Duty World League 2019 season.

Who out of the 32 participants will emerge as the champions is yet to be seen, and while the competition looks as tough as any year before, there are a handful of teams who are considered the favourites to go all the way. Here are our free team news and predictions for the 2019 Call of Duty World League Championship.

eUnited

+300 at BetOnline

One of the most talked-about teams ahead of the CWL Championship is eUnited, who earned their spot at the final event by winning the CWL Pro League Playoffs ahead of Gen.G.

Established in late 2016, eUnited won their first event in 2017 when they took home $80,000 at the Atlanta Open. In years that followed, eUnited kept themselves on the radar, but with no exceptional results. It was not until late 2018 when they switched into a higher gear and never looked back.

In 2019 alone, eUnited have finished second at CWL London, fifth-sixth at CWL Anaheim, first-second at CWL Pro League and went on to win the CWL Pro League playoffs. Those achievements not only won them close to $600,000 in prize money, but also huge amounts of respect from the CoD community.

100 Thieves

+400 at BetOnline

Established in 2016 by Call of Duty legend Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag and closely affiliated with the Cleveland Cavaliers, 100 Thieves are a world-renowned organization in the esports community.

Boasting with over $400,000 in CoD esports winnings in 2019 alone, 100 Thieves have amazed this year with top-five finishes in four events and are the only team to have won multiple events in the 2019 CWL season. They emerged victorious at CWL London and CWL Anaheim and also reached a solid fourth-place finish at Fort Worth.

The CWL Playoffs campaign did not go as planned, however, as 100T had to settle for a fifth-sixth place finish, which was their worst placing at an event since CWL Vegas. Seeing how that was a disappointing result, it only proves the quality and the ambitions of a team who will want to impress in front of their home fans in LA.

FaZe Clan

+450 at BetOnline

FaZe Clan are undoubtedly one of the most iconic Call of Duty teams in the world and a squad never to be underestimated.

A huge question mark was put above Richard “RJ” Simoncelli’s squad ahead of the 2019 CoD World League season, mostly due to the team’s subpar results last year. But FaZe were not at all fazed by those doubts and earned themselves a bronze medal at the CWL Pro League Playoffs in late July.

Although that was their only podium finish of the season, it was enough to silence the doubters and establish FaZe as contenders for the title at Pauley Pavilion.

Gen.G

+450 at BetOnline

Tied with FaZe as third favourites to emerge victorious in Los Angeles, Gen.G did not need long to prove they belong among the top teams in the world.

While their start of the season was relatively slow, Gen.G found their momentum and performed well towards the end of the campaign. Grand final appearances in both Anaheim and the CWL Pro League Playoffs have put Joey “Nubzy” DiGiacomo and his team on the map and among the favourites to achieve greatness in LA.

Despite the fact Gen.G lost both of their grand finals, which has raised some concern about their ability to perform under high-pressure situations, they are still widely considered a force to be reckoned with.

Luminosity

+650 at BetOnline

Luminosity are the sixth favourite to win in Los Angeles, but they should not be ignored by bettors.

The Canadian outfit might not have the flashiest results this season, but they look like a solid team bursting with raw talent. They took a risk swapping Pierce “Gunless” Hillman and Nicholas “Classic” DiCostanzo for Carson “Brack” Newberry and Cesar “Skyz” Bueno, but it has paid off greatly.

Esports bookmakers don’t seem to see Luminosity as a real threat, but this is a team who flew under the radar and could make a big impact in LA. Odds of +650 for the title and +300 to reach the finals are way too generous and should be considered as serious betting options.

2019 CWL Championship betting predictions

eUnited have played well all year long and seem to have hit their stride at the right time with their win at the CWL Playoffs, but there are a few teams who are more than ready to derail them in LA.

One of the biggest threats for eUnited will be 100 Thieves, who are widely considered to be one of the strongest teams in the Call of Duty scene. They have reached new heights since Preston “Priestahh” Greine and James “Crowder” Crowder joined, and from the looks of it, they are not planning on coming down anytime soon.

The LA team’s wins in London and Anaheim were simply breathtaking, as it seemed like they were playing on their own level. Their underwhelming CWL Playoffs finish is a simple bump in the road to the finals and the title of CWL Champions.

Despite being considered second favourites to eUnited, 100 Thieves simply have too much talent, experience and overall quality to be ignored.
